It is as we join with others, in a way that only the Tau can, in shared engagement to the Greater Good, that we find ourselves able to fully realize our true potential. And that is the final source of our hopes and intentions.
Make sure you have read the The Kovash Tauva Website Rules, before you join the community, as to ensure your stay here and that of others will be pleasant. Keep in mind that these rules are not static and can change over time.
A Note Beforehand As much as we might wish that websites such as Kovash Tauva don't need rules, experience has taught us that a few rules can help a lot. It is these rules that keep Kovash Tauva the open, friendly place that it has been for 4 years. Most of these rules are 'common sense' things, but everyone should take a moment to read the rules, so that we can keep Kovash Tauva the friendliest Tau Empire Community on the internet.
A) General Rules
A.1) The most important rule is to be polite. Respect the other members and their feelings. This means no bullying or making fun of other people or their ideas, no swearing or harsh language. This also means no racist, xenophobic or homophobic behavior.
A.2) For the mental health of all our members, please refrain from any discussions of real world religion, politics, ethics or philosophy. This is a website about a game, not real life.
A.3) Kovash Tauva uses English as its main language. We do not support other languages, so try using at least Basic English grammar and spelling. Also, no ‘leet’ or ‘net’ speak. Many of our members have English as a second language and it’s important for us to try and make posts as readable and understandable as possible. It can help to make a text you’re going to post on a word-processor like Microsoft Word and use the available grammar and spelling checking options.
A.4) There is to be no graphic, obscene, or excessively violent material posted on this website. This is a board with members of all ages and inappropriate content will not be tolerated. This includes the actual material or (direct) links to web pages that contains such material.
A.5) Kovash Tauva respects the property of people, including digital property. That means that we do not tolerate the uploading, posting or in any other way spreading materials that are not yours, using Kovash Tauva as a medium. This includes all material copyrighted by Games Workshop, or any other company. This also includes photographs, stories, software or anything made by other people (or members). It is of course completely legal to link to a source (no direct links) which contains copyrighted material. Uploading/posting material, which is not your property, without permission from the author is strictly prohibited. This especially concerns; asking for, posting, or offering scans of information printed in any Games Workshop (endorsed) publications. This includes White Dwarfs, Codices, Novels, etc. It is however always allowed to link to material if this is available on the internet. If you have permission from the owner to post copyrighted material please use it in its original (i.e., unaltered) form only and accompanied by an appropriate copyright statement. For example:
A.6) When you select an avatar, please upload one, select from our list, use one from our gallery or link to a remote one. Don't right click and copy another member's avatar. Avatars are used by members to identify themselves with, so that it is clear who made a post. Most people don't look at the member name but at the avatar if they want to know who posted, so it gets confusing if there are multiple members with the same avatar. The graphical content of the avatar must comply with rules A.1, A.4, A.5.
A.7) Do not post any advertisement for whatever source/company so. Whether harmless or not, we are not a billboard. There is an exception, Games Workshop sites and other official sources of Warhammer information can always be linked to. Posting of non-official wargaming sites is only tolerated if it is correct within the context and for the good of the post. It is of course also allowed to post links to other wargaming communities in the Links section of the website. Make sure the links have anything to do with the hobby. It is also allowed to post links in your signature to whatever website, as long as it complies with rule A.4.
A.8) Multiple accounts are not allowed to prevent any confusion, leaching or fraud. If the Aun find any member with multiple accounts, that member will be asked to give up all but one account. On this website a filter is being used that prevents more than 20 accounts to be registered on one ip-address. This is done to prevent any mal-use and slow-down of the website. If however this gives problems with public-computer use, please contact an Aun.
A.9) It is prohibited to use Kovash Tauva for any other means then intended for or (try to) enter areas that you should not enter. Uploading any content that will compromise the stability of the Website is not allowed
A.10) Any decision made by the Aun or Por is final. If you feel you have been wrongly warned or had your account suspended for the wrong reasons, you may appeal to one of the Aun or Por. Then your appeal will be talked through. Any abuse to the Kovash Tauva Crew will not be tolerated, and will only succeed in seeing your account banned from the community.
B) Forum Rules
B.1) In accordance with rule A.1, we don’t allow flaming. If you have a difference of opinion with a member about a topic that is fine. Debate is good and one of the enjoyable aspects of a community like this. But if it is getting personal or emotional, take it off the board, use personal messaging or just let the matter drop.
B.2) Post your topics in the correct section. We have a pretty extensive set of sections, covering all possible subjects that are related to the Tau Empire and it is important to keep it all organized so that our members and guests can find what they are looking for.
B.3) Spamming will NOT be tolerated. Do not spam to raise your own post count or to bump a topic back to the top of the list. Spam may be considered as posts that don’t add to the discussion: one word or one line posts like "Yup" or "Yeah I agree.". If you have nothing good to add to a topic, then don’t post on it. Essentially we want to keep replies meaningful and interesting to read. If you want to generate more activity for a topic, post something interesting about it that people will want to read and respond to.
B.4) No topic-jacking. Topic-jacking is when you post a new question or topic in an existing topic that has nothing to do with the original subject. Topic-jacking makes it difficult for people to follow the conversation and find what they want. Create a new topic instead, it’s more polite and will probably generate more answers for you anyway.
B.5) Pay attention to how old a topic is before posting in it. The date of each reply is given above the post itself. So make sure that you don’t post in an old post unless you have something important/interesting to say about it. Most of the time it is better, and you will get more responses, if you create a new topic on a similar subject.
B.6) Avoid double posting. If you need to correct errors in a post or add something to it you forgot, use the edit button to modify your post instead. You should only post twice in a row if a significant amount of time (at least a day) has passed since your last post and you have something new to add. Double posting is considered spamming. Again, posts should always strive to be on-topic and relevant. You shouldn’t be posting just to bump your topic to the top of the page or to see your name on the screen.
Important! Failure to follow one or more these rules will result in an official warning from the Aun or Por. Continued abuse of the rules may result in temporary loss of access or outright banning from the community. Particularly severe violations may lead to immediate banning with no advance warning.
